Gatsby Benchmark 7: Encounters with Further and Higher Education

All pupils should understand the full range of learning opportunities that are available to them. This includes both academic and vocational routes and learning in schools, colleges, universities and in the workplace

Here you will find links and resources that endeavour to support schools to meet 100% in Gatsby Benchmark 7

General Information

In this webinar David Andrews, co-author of the Careers Leader's Handbook, discusses how to work with colleges, apprenticeship providers and universities to help students make the best choices. He also covers the statutory duty placed on schools by the so-called ‘Baker Clause’ to create opportunities for other providers to speak to pupils in years 8 to 13

Aspire: Free resources enable Year 12 and 13 teachers to deliver an effective and engaging assembly or lesson about  post-18 options, from university to school leaver programmes and apprenticeships, as well as careers advice and inspiration.

Apprenticeships

Every school and college with students in years 10 – 13 is entitled to access a fully funded, bespoke apprenticeship support package. The Apprenticeship Support & Knowledge for schools and colleges programme (ASK), is funded by the National Apprenticeship Service, part of the Department for Education, to inform students, parents, teachers and governors about the wonderful opportunities that apprenticeships offer. All activities have been mapped to the Gatsby Benchmarks. The full brochure outlining the support available can be downloaded. To book support for your school click here
