Do you have a passion for maths, and a desire to explore new areas of maths? Then Further Maths may be for you!

In addition to the topics covered in the normal maths syllabus, you will study complex numbers, matrices and some really interesting functions and their graphs. You will also study a unit on statistics, exploring distributions of data and probability. Continuing into year 13 allows further exploration of matrices, vectors and complex numbers, with potential to study more statistics or mechanics - depending on the needs of the cohort.

How will I learn?

We make use of a variety of learning techniques including flipped learning using videos, investigations using graphing software and plenty collaborative problem solving. You will need to be willing to put in quite a bit of independent studying to keep your skills sharp!

How will it be delivered?

As with maths, all units are examined at the end of the school year. Calculators are permitted in all further maths exams.

Entry requirements

You must have a least an A at GCSE (preferably an A*) and be able to achieve highly on the maths transition test. You will be given some preparation over the summer.
