BTEC Science takes in a range of topics from Biology, Chemistry and Physics considering communication with waves, cell structure and the chemical bonding of elements. This course also looks at practical techniques and how to carry out investigations in a laboratory setting. It’s a great choice if you have an interest in Science, but don’t want to specialise in one field.
BTEC Applied Science is a great choice for people who want a career in many science industries, this could include:
Lab technician within Education or Pharmacology.
Radiography, Opthamology and Pathology.
Forensic Sciences within Public Services.
Assessment is done via a mixture of internal practical assessment and external exams.
Unit 1: Exam on Biology Chemistry and Physics
Unit 2: Internally assessed practical assessment
Unit 3: Internal practical to gather results followed by external exam
Unit 4: Exam on an option within science (chosen at start of year 2)
Students joining BTEC Science will need to have studied at least Double Science at GCSE level and have achieved a grades no worse than 4/4
