Overview
This qualification will interest any student who enjoys finding out about the past, who loves adebate and who enjoys analysis and making judgements.
History A level is a highly respected qualification, both by universities and in the world of work. The study of History will enable you to not only develop your thinking and written skills but to make informed judgements about controversial issues and to present arguments clearly.

Year 12—Component 1: Breadth study The Tudors: England, 1485–1603.
Component 2: Depth study Revolution and dictatorship: Russia, 1917–1953
Year 13—Component 1: Breadth study Tsarist and Communist Russia, 1855–1964
Component 2: Depth study Royal Authority and the Angevin Kings, 1154–1216
How will it be delivered?
An examination will take place at the end of the two-years based on three components:
· Study of significant historical developments over one hundred years. Written exam 2hr 30min.
· Study in depth of a period of major historical change or development. Written exam 2hr 30min.
· Personal study topic of choice, question in the context of 100 years. 3000-3500 words
A personal study based on a topic of students choice.
