Overview

This is a challenging, interesting and rewarding course. You will develop your thinking about some of the big philosophical questions and learn how to put together a coherent argument.

A qualification in this subject is a highly respected academic qualification for those applying for a university degree course in many subjects. It shows that you are thoughtful, reflective and articulate with an awareness of different  philosophies and world faiths.

Details

This is the study of philosophical ideas and questions, ethical theories and applied ethics.

These might include arguments about God’s existence, challenges to religious belief, how we explain evil and suffering in the world, science and religion, how do we know what is right or wrong, Kantian ethics, utilitarianism, Natural Law and religious ethics.                                                                                        

How will it be delivered?

Examinations will be taken at the end of the two-year course. three x 2 hour examinations.

Entry requirements

5 9-5 GCSEs, including, grade 5 in RS or grade 5 in English.
