During this two-year course, you will learn about the differences between financial accounting and management accounting and the purpose of each. You will also understand all the different types of businesses, and the role accountants play.
You will understand how to prepare and record adjustments in ledger accounts and financial statements, as well as learn about general accounting concepts and how to use them in different situations.
You will need to have strong numeracy skills, but there is more to accounting than simply getting the figures right. You will also need to be able to analyse and interpret financial information and provide vital details to business owners and decision makers.
You will learn key skills in:
* Double entry model
*Preparation of financial statements for sole traders
*Limited company accounts
* Standard costing and variance analysis
* Absorption and activity based costing
You will need at least 5 grade 9 to 4 (A*-C), plus a grade 5 in English and grade 6 in maths
This course would be good to study alongside other A-Level subjects such as Business and Economics, allowing for progression to university courses in Accounting or Finance.
