What will you be working towards?
||GCE A/AS Level or Equivalent
This exciting two year course will encourage a wide exploration of Textiles techniques that could be developed into Fashion or Interiors. The first year is primarily coursework based, so you will undertake a series of projects which be initiated with drawing and then progress to creating samples that demonstrate various processes in print and constructed Textiles. Through these projects you will develop your skills, research and understanding of the subject that will help you form a clear idea of where your strengths and interests lie. The second year gives you the opportunity to develop your own specialist project and you will be undertaking an exam. As well as developing your understanding of how design works, this course offers you the opportunity to explore and develop skills on course
How will it be delivered?
You will be set regular assignments and projects that will create identified assessment points. These will feed in to your progress tracking file which drives the College Report process and compares you to your Target Minimum Grade which is based on your prior achievements at GCSE level. It also enables us to effectively measure progress and make Estimated Grade predictions.
This continuous assessment then directs our guidance and support ensuring that your individual learning programme meets your needs.
In the 2 Year A Level the assessment for the overall qualification is based on the work that you complete in the second year of your course, allowing the first year to be primarily formative and supportive of your development.
You will need a GCSE art related subject at least grade C/4.
Your next steps...
After completing this course you may seek employment or an apprenticeship. Or you may decide to specialise further by either going on to a 1 Year full time Art Foundation Course or a 2 Year Foundation Degree or a 3 Year BA Honours Degree.
