Overview

Graphic Communication is an exciting area of study, involving the generation and development of ideas about visual communication and the production of wide ranging outcomes. This practical course builds on traditional art & design skills and new skills in IT-based media. Critical analysis of design history and the study of recent and current practitioners are incorporated into all units. Written annotation is expected throughout and there is a compulsory requirement for a piece of written communication (essay of 3,000 approx.) in unit 3, which is usually taken in Y2.

How will it be delivered?

This course is project based and involves the assessment of coursework and leads to an examination in year 2. You will be set various projects and assignments that create identified assessment points. This will then feed in to the College reporting system linking it both to your Minimum Target Grade based on you prior performance at GCSE level and inform our prediction of future Estimated Grades. This in turn enables us to guide and support you and to tailor your individual learning programme to meet your needs

Entry requirements

You will need a GCSE art related subject at least grade C/4.

After completing this course you may seek employment or an apprenticeship. Or you may decide to continue in specialist education, either a one-year full time Art Foundation course, two-year Foundation Degree or three-year BA Honours Degree.
