Over the duration of the course you learn about science in a more applied way, developing skills in independent learning, lab work, and research. You will learn about the principles and applications of science, practical scientific procedures, and gain scientific investigation techniques and skills. You will also gain an understanding of how to work safely in a laboratory and competently use lab equipment. You may also be able to obtain a Forensic Science Qualification as part of the course.
You will also develop an appreciation of the competencies, skills and knowledge required for Higher Education and employment in science-based careers.
You will learn about:

* Research and Investigation skills
How will it be delivered?
Your assessments will be coursework-based, and will include specific unit assignments, presentations, tests, observation of practical work and practical lab written reports.
You will need at least GCSE English Language, Maths and a Science subject at grade C/4.

Once you have completed the course you will have the opportunity to study a wide range of university courses, both within and outside the science curriculum.
You may also look to start your career in the industry and work towards becoming a Forensic scientist, or Crime scene investigator.
