Overview

If you love computer games and would like to learn the craft of game creation, then this Level 3 Games Development course is the perfect start for a career in the games industry or further study at university. The course gives you an opportunity to develop skills and techniques to help prepare you for a career in the games industry through interactive design disciplines. As a student on this course, you should be enthusiastic about analysing what makes games fun to play and making them more challenging for the player. You should also be comfortable learning a wide range of visual and technical skills to help you develop your professional approaches to the subject and you should be prepared to solve design problems using a wide range of software.

How will it be delivered?

The course is project/assignment based and there are no exams. You will be continually assessed throughout the course and the year will culminate in a final project which will be graded as a pass, merit or distinction. This course is 100% coursework and you will present your work in a range of formats You will be assessed on your research, development and experimentation and final outcomes and you will be encouraged to develop your work and professional practice through evaluation and self-reflection.

Entry requirements

You must achieve at least five GCSEs grade A*/9 - C/4 in four different subjects, including English Language and/or maths, or an equivalent Level 2 vocational qualification.
