On this course you will learn the practical skills and knowledge needed to work successfully across all areas of the food service industry. You will complete mandatory and optional units that could include effective teamwork, food safety, health and safety, and preparation and cooking of meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, hot sauces, stock and soups. You will also have the opportunity to gain an NVQ in Food and Beverage service, gaining valuable hands on experience working in our professional kitchens, preparing and serving meals in our bistro and restaurant, both of which are open to the public, as well as participate in our themed evenings developing your experience. You will also study for the Level 2 Diploma in Hospitality.
How will it be delivered?
You will build a portfolio of evidence based on continuous assessment within our kitchens and restaurant. Assessment will be by a variety of methods including practical observation, online testing, and oral and written questions.
You must achieve at least four GCSEs at D/3 or above in different subjects including English and/or maths, or an equivalent Level 1 vocational qualification.
Your next steps...
This course can provide a pathway to a wide range of jobs including chef or food service personnel in hotels, restaurants and contract catering, with opportunities to travel. Successful students can also continue their studies to the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Professional Cookery.
