Overview
This course is aimed towards students that enjoy Science but want to continue learning in more of an applied way. Students can choose to obtain a Forensic Science Qualification as part of the course. You will develop skills in independent learning, practical ability, research and active group work. The units include Principles and Applications of Science, Practical Scientific procedures and Techniques and Scientific Investigation skills. These give a basic understanding of scientific principles and how to work safely in laboratories and competently use laboratory equipment. In addition students will study one unit from Biology or Chemistry.
How will it be delivered?
You will be assessed through a range of assessment techniques, including observation of practical work, laboratory experiments and reports, written assignments and oral presentations. The majority of assessment is by coursework.
Entry requirements
You must achieve at least five GCSEs grade A*/9 - C/4 in four different subjects, including GCSE Maths and Double Science grade CC/4-4, or Applied Science BTEC Diploma Merit.
