This qualification covers the fundamentals of the Uniformed Protective Services sector and is designed to support learners who want to study uniformed protective services as a full-time course. After year one (equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels) students can progress onto the Extended Diploma in year two, which upon completion and when combined with year 1, equates to 3 A-Levels. The topics studied are designed to underpin the entry requirements of a number of the Uniformed Protective Services. You will study 5 units over the year incorporating both practical and theoretical elements.
How will it be delivered?
You will be assessed in a variety of ways including essays and reports, as well as presentations and one exam in year one. There will be practical assessments as well which require students to demonstrate competencies in selected skills.
You must achieve at least five GCSEs grade A*/9 - C/4 in four different subjects, including English Language, or an equivalent Level 2 vocational qualification.
Your next steps...
This qualification is primarily designed to support progression to employment following further study at university. However, it also supports learners progressing directly to employment, if studied as a one-year full-time study programme. It will give learners the knowledge and understanding required to apply for a range of entry-level roles within the uniformed protective services sector, or for employment as an apprentice within the sector, where learners will complete additional training and qualifications to gain the skills and knowledge required to progress in their chosen profession.
