Overview

Over the duration of the course you will gain an understanding of, and develop new skills in the information technology sector. You will explore and examine the online world and the types of systems that are used by individuals and organisations. You will enhance your skills in a number of software programmes to create digital graphics, animation and videos. You will also begin to build a portfolio of your work to demonstrate your capabilities to future employers. You will study a range of topics including: * The online world * Technology systems * Computing in the workplace * Creating digital graphics * Creating digital animation * Creating digital video * Multimedia products development * Mobile apps development * Computational thinking * Spreadsheet development * Building a personal computer * Database development

How will it be delivered?

Two of your core units will be externally assessed by examination; the remainder of the units will be assessed through assignments and coursework, which will be completed to strict deadlines. You will also receive regular feedback from your tutors about your progress.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade A*/9 - D/3 including English and maths.

Your next steps...

On completion of this course you can progress onto our Level 3 Computing qualification, or start an apprenticeship in IT. With additional training there may be a number of career opportunities available to you including: a Content Creator, a system developer, a technical support worker, an App Developer, or a Website Developer.
