What will you be working towards?

Over the duration of the course you will be have the opportunity to observer and learn from experienced teaching professionals in a school setting, while working closely with teachers and families to ensure that the child�s learning and development is enhanced.
You will be able to develop key skills through practise and theory as you undertake a school placement for four days a week with the other day being timetabled at college. You learn all aspects of working in a classroom environment in line with the National Curriculum requirements, with particular focus on care and education, while gaining key interpersonal skills that will enable you to become an effective classroom assistant.
Units will include:
* Developing relationships
* Promoting Positive Behaviour
* Health and Safety
* Literacy and Numeracy.
How will it be delivered?
Your assessments for this course will take place in the school and consist of portfolio based assignments.
5 GCSEs grade A*/9 - C/4 including English and maths. DBS check will be required.
Your next steps...
Once you have completed the course you may decide to progress onto to a higher level of study, perhaps at degree level or training to become an Early Years Educator.
You may also start your career in the industry in a teaching support position, with the opportunity to specialise as an individual needs assistant.
