Overview
This qualification consists of nine units and has the academic equivalence of 1.5 A-Levels. The course units for study are;
1) Anatomy and Physiology related to Fitness
2) Exercise, health and lifestyle
3) Practical team sport
4) Work experience
5) Skills for water based activities
6) Preparing for a career in sport
7) Principles and practices for Outdoor activity
8) Outdoor education expedition
9) Sports coaching
You will produce two or three assignments for each unit. You will also study the Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA) and have the opportunity to join a Sports Academy course.
How will it be delivered?
You will be assessed on a continuous assessment basis with assignments at specific times throughout the year. Assessment methods include essay writing, presentations and practical demonstrations/observations.
Entry requirements
You must achieve at least five GCSEs grade A*/9 - C/4 in four different subjects, including English Language, maths and science, or an equivalent Level 2 vocational qualification.
Your next steps...
Learners may wish to progress to year 2 to complete the Level 3 Extended Diploma, which is an additional nine units. To do so you must achieve the Foundation Diploma.
