Overview
If you are interested in joining one of the uniformed public services such as the Emergency services, Armed Forces or other uniformed services e.g Prison Service and Coast Guard, this course will provide you with the skills, knowledge and attitude to succeed.
Details
The qualification is equivalent to wither 1 or 2 A-Levels. It is comprised of 6 - 12 units that are studied over two years. Some of the units you will study include:
· Leadership and Teamwork
· Understanding Discipline
· Outdoor and Adventurous activities
· Fitness testing and training
· Government policies
· Communication and Technology
How will I learn?
Learning will take place through classroom teaching, practical sessions as well as the use of flipped teaching. The lessons are based on class and group discussions, activities, peer teaching, independent learning as well as trips to various public service organisations and guest speakers.
How will it be delivered?
The assessments are assignment based so there is no final written exam.
The assignments come in many forms, including written work, project work, presentations, group work, and practical-based assessments. It is demanding and you will need to be organised and be able to work independently from time to time. Throughout the course you will collect evidence of your competence in each unit. The work completed in each unit is graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction.
These all combine at the end of the course to give you your overall grade.
Entry requirements
Students will need to have at least a C grade in both English and Mathematics and a total of 5 A* to C grades.
