Equivalent to 3 A Levels
This course is intended for those who want to progress
directly to employment in an assistant coaching role. It
is also suitable for those wishing to progress to Higher
Education, where students would have the added
advantage of using it to obtain part-time employment.
This is a career-focused qualification with industry
endorsement and accreditation. It enables students to
develop underpinning knowledge and technical skills and
to gain experience as an assistant coach.
Each unit is related to the sporting interests of the group
wherever possible and adapted to be as practical as

Assessment is completed using internally assessed
assignment work focussing on specific tasks relating
to each unit. There are no exams within this course.
Students are expected to undertake independent learning
outside of lessons throughout the course to aid their
At least 4-5 GCSE's graded 9-4, including English or Maths.
Progress directly to employment in the coaching and
development sector as a coach, additionally, the breadth
of optional content in this qualification allows students
to widen their opportunities to progress to a number of
different Higher Education courses.
