This study programme is designed for students who are wanting to move away from a formalised approach to education but need support with the first steps into the world of work. This programme will aim to develop your understanding of the world of work, through work experience and studies. It will allow you to make more informed career choices and raise your awareness of the employability skills you need to build successful careers in your chosen field of work.

Functional Skills in English – Level 1/ 2
Functional Skills in Maths –Level 1 / 2
City & Guilds Employability Skills Extended Certificate - Level 1/2
Careers Education - Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) from careers advisers who can provide you with impartial careers advice. This is a natural link with employability skills and will be incoprated into your studies.
AQA Project Qualification –Level 1 / 2
Work-Related Learning through Work Experience - 2 days a week with the potential for block placements where relevant. This can be within one setting within the year or a mix of two if appropriate.
Personal Development Learning –this is a non-certified programme that will support emotional, social and organisational guidance as well as personal quality and skill development for the world of work
OpenLearn (Open University) - these online courses will be available to enhance your understanding and knowledge within different areas of interest supporting future careers. On completion of each course, students will receive a Statement of Participation.
There will be a combination of taught sessions, independent study, tutorials and practical activities through work experience. Assessments for each course are outlined in the content sheets but will range from examinations for functional skills and coursework for the Employability Skills qualification.
This programme is open to all 16-year-old learners with an interest in learning work related learning skills through study and experience. It is aimed at level 1 learners but can be enhanced to level 2 for the appropriate learner. If a grade 2 or below has been achieved, Maths or English Functional skills may be considered as an option of study. GCSE English and/or Maths will be studied alongside this programme if a Grade 3 has been achieved.
