Our theatre design department has a national reputation for courses up to degree level and our facilities offer a unique opportunity for industry-standard training. This practical course covers a broad range of design skills, from set, scenery and props to costume and make-up, including both historical and modern contexts.
You will collaborate with performance and film students, working on short films, exhibitions and public shows in our theatre.
This course can be studied over two years, you will study for the Diploma in the first year, and on successful completion, the Extended Diploma in the second year.
To join this Level 3 course, you should have at least 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, preferably including English and maths, and examples of your creative work to show at interview.
If you do not have the above grades, you can start on one of the MET's Level 2 courses such as Performance & Production Arts.
Following completion and achievement of the Diploma (year 1) you can progress to the Extended Diploma (year 2).
Following the Extended Diploma you can progress to university-level, either at the MET or at other universities. Degrees at Northbrook MET include Production Design, Prop Making & Special Effects, Costume for Performance & Film or Make-up & Hair for Theatre & Media.
