This practical course will teach you how to plan and rig the lighting, sound and projection systems for plays, musicals, gigs and festivals. Our main theatre and studio theatre are equipped with industry-standard lighting boards, sound mixing desks and professional software.
The live shows performed by our acting and music students provide an ideal environment to train for technical and stage management roles in a range of formats. Students’ skills are developed through practical workshops, seminars and studio performances.
This course can be studied over two years, you will study for the Diploma in the first year, and on successful completion, the Extended Diploma in the second year.
To join this Level 3 course, you should have at least 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, preferably including English and maths.
If you do not have the above grades, you can start on one of the MET's Level 2 courses such as Performing & Production Arts.
Following completion and achievement of the Diploma (year 1) you can progress to the Extended Diploma (year 2).
After the Extended Diploma you can progress to a university-level course either at the MET or at other universities. Degrees at Northbrook MET include Stage & Production Management or Lighting & Sound Design.
