Overview
Barbering services are increasingly in demand, with the men�s grooming market growing consistently and specialist barber shops and hairdressing salons rising to meet this interest. Barbering has a unique position within the hair and beauty sector, as it combines traditional skills, such as scissors over comb and shaving, with new specialist techniques, such as 2D and 3D sculpting. It�s also shaped by cultural and fashion trends, acting as a career choice that reflects the society around it.
How will it be delivered?
You will build up a portfolio of evidence to showcase your skills and knowledge.
Practical skills will be assessed by observation whilst working on 'live' models.
Knowledge of each unit of work will be assessed in a variety of methods such as assignments, professional discussions and external written papers (multiple choice).
Entry requirements
You must achieve at least four GCSEs at D/3 or above in different subjects including English and/or maths, or an equivalent Level 1 vocational qualification.

Upon successful completion of this course, you have the option to work in a barbers or continue to train at the next level:
VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Barbering which covers advanced cutting techniques, shaving, facial massage with hot towels and perming.
Alternatively you could pursue an advanced apprenticeship.
