Overview

This vocational is part of the Level 2 Academic Study Programme at The View @ East Street. This study programme is designed for learners who would like to boost their GCSEs and other vocational qualifications in order to secure a place on a Level 3 course in a sixth form or college in the future. This programme is ideal for 16-year olds who want to continue with more traditional level 3 studies (A levels and Vocational studies) and need to enhance their current qualifications to achieve the right entry criteria for the institution and courses of their choice.

This is a FULL time Study Programme

You will study a combination of 3-5 GCSE and vocational courses - these will be tailored to meet your needs and aspirations, and which will enable you to progress onto further studies next year. These qualifications which are all equivalent to ONE GCSE.

Details

The Mathematics qualification will enable you to develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts. You will acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems and reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences, and draw conclusions. You will also develop an understanding of comprehending, interpreting and communicating mathematical information, in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context. This will be aimed at students who retake this to improve their grade at GCSE.

How will it be delivered?

• The qualification consists of three equally-weighted written examination papers

• Paper 1 is a non-calculator assessment

• Paper 2 and Paper 3 are calculator papers

• Each paper is 1 hour and 30 minutes long / 80 marks each.

Entry requirements

GCSE Maths can be studied alongside the academic study programme if a Grade 3 has been achieved.

The academic study programme is ideal for learners intending to move to A Level and Level 3 Vocational qualifications at a school or college next year.
