Greater Brighton Metropolitan College
Over 150 years of innovation and expertise
Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (MET) was created from the merger of City College Brighton and Northbrook College Sussex. It is the college for our City and our region and draws on 150 years of heritage, history and experience.
We offer a comprehensive range of qualifications for 16-19 year olds, university degrees, full and part time courses for adults, apprenticeships and professional qualifications. The MET operates across five campuses in Brighton, Shoreham, Worthing and we teach around 3,500 16-18 year-olds, 1,000 undergraduates, 7,500 adult learners and 800 apprentices.
Our support team are available to help you with a wide range of topics, such as course, financial support and careers.
If you require additional learning support, we will help you to identify your needs and ensure you are not disadvantaged.
We also offer a mentoring service and counselling.
Visit our Support Services pages for more details about the different support services we provide.
We believe that every student should have equal opportunities to learn and use their abilities. Please talk to us about your support needs so we can work out the adjustments you might need to help you study and achieve. This might include use of specialist software and equipment, in-class support from a TSA or a note-taker or one-to-one support with study skills.
What makes us different?
More than 1,000 expert staff work with our students to equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to prepare them for the world of work - to encourage support and inspire them. The MET helps to build the self belief, confidence and bravery our students need to meet and exceed their aspirations.
At the MET we believe it's our job to celebrate ambition, unlock potential and transform lives.
TEF silver award
The MET has been awarded a silver under the government’s Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). This UK-based award recognises the MET as delivering high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for students studying Higher Education qualifications.
The silver TEF award is a reflection of the MET’s excellent teaching quality, the learning environment, and the educational and professional outcomes achieved by students.
The MET's courses are industry-led, with an emphasis on employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship. Courses include live projects and work placements, and many have the endorsement of professional bodies. Teaching staff are industry-experts.
